Ray Farmer isn’t playing around! I can be miserable and critical and awful with the Browns at times, but that’s only meaningful if I can be honest when I’m happy about something. I know for a fact that everything Ray Farmer is doing won’t work, but all you can guarantee is the effort and how you go about your business. Ray Farmer is going about his business well so far.
Ray Farmer is showing just how different he is than Joe Banner and Michael Lombardi. In the shadow of those two guys punting a draft, trading a high profile player and never replacing him, Ray Farmer is showing just how committed he is to the here and now. Yes, he grabbed Buffalo’s pick for next year, but he didn’t sit around talking about how valuable his future assets are. Farmer chose to work on maximizing current assets. Specifically, he went and signed two veteran receivers to go with his undrafted crop.
Josh Gordon might not be here? There’s no easy solution to an issue that big, but Farmer is doing what he can. He signed Earl Bennett and on a higher profile nabbed Miles Austin as well. Again, neither are Josh Gordon, but trust me when that has reverberations through the entire team. It tells the roster and the coaching staff that this front office is trying to win now and you best follow suit. No more rebuilding. It’s no guarantee of success, but I think it maximizes the potential of what you have now. Good on Ray Farmer and this current crop of Browns execs.

The best kind of promotion is self promotion! It’s kind of cheating to pump up the podcast in my WWW, but I had a pretty good week, I think. So, I’d like to push it anyway.
Over the weekend was the return of Scott Raab
I followed that up with a WFNY Joncast
I talked baseball and CLE music with Joe Petrich of Something Involving a Monkey
Lastly, I talked Cavs, Internet and Seth Rogen’s Neighbors movie with Brian Spaeth
Of course you should subscribe to the podcast on iTunes.

I told you I’d keep you updated on my progress with Game of Thrones. Since I last talked to you, we’ve conquered all of season two and are four episodes into season three. The show is flying by, but we’re really loving it this time around. The gratuitous sex either has become far less prevalent, or maybe I’m just numb to it and not noticing anymore. Honestly could be either.
Anyway, I’m sure you regular people who are up to date aren’t shocked by this anymore, but I’m amazed at the character development. The job that Emelia Clarke did in creating a simpler, younger female character at the beginning before letting her come into her own as Khaleesi is nothing short of awesome. Of all the characters, that was the greatest departure and actually created a character I liked form one that I didn’t.

The World Cup is coming soon, so I wanted to put you in the soccer mood with some free kick trickery.
That’s it for me this week. Have a great weekend everybody!
